EYEBROW & TEMPLES MASSAGE (PART OF THE FASCIAL SEQUENCE OF THE THAI YOGA MASSAGE)

  • TENSION IN THE BODY

  • Using the following easy massage of your eyebrows and temples you can effectively reduce tension in the area of the head.

Tension is created continuously in the body just by the general conditions of life. This includes out movement through 3 dimensional space and the interaction with gravity and resistances. Additionaly out emotional state is generated out of that which shows in our body language. Amongst other things in our face. Tension is transferred e.g. in the eye area by physical or emotional stress like a long focus on a task, moderate to maximal physical activity or negative emotions like anger.

This creates an internal and external "echo". When your face is tensed the people around us will interprete our body language more likely as less approachable, less open and peaceful and will therefore proably affect their behaviour. Also your breath will be restricted while having a tensed face. Try it now!

  • THE BREATHING TEST

  • 1.) Sit or stand comfortably and upright. Focus your eyes onto a point in the distance in front of you. Breathe in and feel how your breathing feels. Feel the areas that move - chest & stomach. Maybe more.

2.) Now imagine that you are biting on a sour 🍋 lemon. Make a lemon face! Pinch the eyebrows together, wrinkle the nose, pull the corners of the mouth firmly apart. Tighten your entire face and feel your breathing again. Feel again the areas that move and compare to before in 1.). What feels different? What feels the same?

3.) Relax your face again, look for the point in the distance again and finally observe once again how your breathing is after you tensed your face.

With the lemon face 🍋, you may have been aware that the chest is not as mobile, open and free when you breathe.
